Why I started finishing mobile games again

March 18, 2026 · Elias Brandt

For a while my phone was a graveyard of half-played live-service games. Each one wanted a daily login and none of them wanted to end. I stopped feeling anything when I opened them.

So I made a rule: prioritize games with a clear finish. Adventures, story RPGs, tactics campaigns. Something that respects the idea of completion.

The change was immediate. Finishing Hollow Lantern over a weekend felt better than months of chipping at a battle pass. There's a real satisfaction in credits rolling.

I'm not saying live-service is bad, but a good ending is underrated. Sometimes the best thing a game can do is let you put it down for good.
