Five signs a mobile game actually cares about story
Plenty of mobile games slap a plot on top of a loot loop and call it a story. A few genuinely build around narrative, and there are early tells if you know where to look.
Watch how the first hour is paced. Story-first games slow down and let characters breathe instead of rushing you to the first upgrade screen. Look at side content too, optional dialogue and readable lore usually mean someone cared.
Another sign is choice that sticks. Even small consequences that carry forward suggest the writers weren't just filling space between battles.
Finally, notice the music and ambient sound. It's not narrative exactly, but a strong audio identity almost always signals a team that thought about mood, and mood carries story.
